The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic has gained national recognition as one of the best organized and uniquely focused high school athletic events in the United States. The event invites high school teams from across the United States to participate in this outstanding tournament. Over the years this tournament has featured some outstanding teams. Teams from New York - Christ The King, St. Raymonds, Rice, Mt. Vernon, Pennsylvania's Simon Gratz, Ohio's Villa Angela St. Joseph and Taft, Florida's St. Thomas Aquinas.
The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is more than just top caliber basketball - it's an educational experience. The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is a project of the Broome County STOP-DWI Program that uses basketball as a tool to create a unique and exciting learning experience for youth. Through involvement in the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic high school athletes are encouraged to become leaders in the effort to deal with alcohol and substance abuse in their school and community.

The Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena opened in 1973, provides diversified entertainment for over half a million people each year. Located in downtown Binghamton off State Street, the arena is the home ice for the American Hockey League Binghamton Senators, and hosts the Disney on Ice, concerts, trade shows, and many other professional, scholastic events, amateur sporting events and community events. Seating capacity is 6,800.
