STOP DWI Chris Thater Memorial Included in USA Cycling Lineup

August 28th-29th 2010

(BINGHAMTON, NY) The Chris Thater Memorial Race has once again been included on USA Cycling’s National Calendar—which represents America’s premier events. There are twenty seven USA Cycling events in 2010, seven less than those included in 2009. The Chris Thater Memorial Race will be the final Men’s and Women’s cycling event of the season held on August 28th-29th at Recreation Park in Binghamton.

“Each year the Chris Thater Memorial showcases our community and the world class athletes who participate,” said Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala “Even during uncertain financial times, the Chris Thater continues to be supported and its important message about impaired driving continues to resonate throughout the community. We are proud to again be included in USA Cycling’s  National Calendar of events. ”

Last year, the Chris Thater Memorial received the 3rd highest ranking of America’s top cycling events by USA Cycling. The Thater also received the most unsolicited support than any other event on the national circuit.

“It want to thank everyone for their support of the Chris Thater Memorial,” said event founder and Broome County STOP DWI Coordinator James May. “It is again an honor to have this event recognized as one of USA Cycling’s premiere national events. USA Cycling’s support aids our efforts to spread an important message about impaired driving.”
