2009 Chemical Dependency Professional of the Year Award Breakfast

(Binghamton, NY) This morning the Broome County Mental Health Department hosted its annual breakfast at the Binghamton Regency hotel in downtown Binghamton honoring a local chemical dependency health professional. This year, the award went to Kelly Nojaim, BA, CASAC who is employed as a drug abuse counselor at the Broome County Mental Health Department.
Each year, those working in the mental health field with those suffering from substance abuse issues come together to acknowledge and honor a distinguished member of their workforce. This year, Kelly Nojaim was named the 2009 Chemical Dependency Professional of the Year. Nojaim received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Binghamton University and received New York State accreditation as an alcoholism and substance abuse counselor.
Kelly was nominated for the Chemical Dependency Professional of the Year Award by her colleagues at the Broome County Mental Health Department. Those recognizing her achievements noted her prior work at the Department of Social Services establishing a collaborative case management system. Nojami was further praised for her current work with those dependent on drugs and alcohol and her overall efforts to assist them achieve recovery. She works closely with members of the judicial system to evaluate and assess treatment as an alternative to incarceration. Recognized for her high level of integrity and resourcefulness, Kelly was acknowledged for her unrelenting efforts to enable individuals to overcome substance abuse issues.
