Chamber of Commerce Begins to Assist Business Community

On behalf of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, our hearts go out to everyone who is suffering as a result of the destruction caused by this recent flooding.

We recognize that many businesses in Greater Binghamton have been hit hard by this disaster. The Chamber will be working with state and local agencies as well as the media to serve as a central point of information for the business community – both Chamber Members and Non-Members. This may include informational seminars for businesses as well as information for those looking to volunteer or make donations to area businesses.

Right now, the Chamber has initiated a couple of actions to assist the Greater Binghamton business community during this crisis, including:

1 - Conducting a full needs assessment of local businesses. Our first effort is to put out a short needs assessment survey to try to gauge the number of businesses affected in our area. We want to know if your business was affected by the disaster. We also want to know if you know of a business that was affected by the disaster. Please fill in the attached sheet and return it to the Chamber, via email ashaw@binghamtonchamber.com or fax (607) 722-4513, at your earliest convenience.

Should your power be down and you are unable to reach us via email or fax, please call (607) 772-8860. This information will be posted on our website as soon as possible.

The Chamber is reaching out to as many businesses (both Chamber Members and Non-Members) as possible via e-mail and by telephone to find out who was affected by the disaster and what kinds of assistance or supplies they need.

We are also compiling a list of companies that can offer assistance or supplies.

A full status report will be posted on the home page of our website once we can compile this information into a single document.

2 - Serving as a clearinghouse of information for local businesses. A list of disaster relief assistance available to businesses will be posted on the home page of our website as soon as that information becomes available.
