Only one week left to register and join the family fun with a police-escorted bike tour around downtown Binghamton and the river corridor areas.
Register at local bike shops for the 6th annual Binghamton Bridge Pedal, which will take place on Saturday, July 16th from 9 – 11am. A list of participating bike shops is available by clicking the “Binghamton Bridge Pedal” link at www.bmtsonline.com.
Pre-registration is $2, and day of event registration is from 8am to 9am for $3.
A wrist band and a ride map with information about landmark sites will be given to participants upon registration.
The Binghamton Bridge Pedal is a 9 mile bicycle ride starting and finishing at the South Washington Street Bridge. Riders will be in one group, staying together throughout the event.
Pedal alongside the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers, across landmark bridges, and see historic sites. There will be several stops at local parks, a museum, garden plots, and an urban farm along the way with representatives from several transportation, cultural, historic, and community organizations that will speak and provide information about these special landmark places.
This event will take place rain or shine. Bicycle helmets are required for all participants.
The following are Binghamton Bridge Pedal partners: Binghamton Metropolitan Transportation Study (BMTS), Broome County, City of Binghamton, Preservation Association of the Southern Tier (PAST), Southern Tier Bicycle Club, Susquehanna Heritage Area, and Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments (VINES).
