(Binghamton, NY) Broome County STOP-DWI is pleased to announce plans for the 2011 Chris Thater Memorial Music Festival. This year’s music festival will feature twenty-one bands from our area. The Chris Thater Memorial Music Festival will take place August 27^th – 28^th at Recreation Park in Binghamton.

In 2009, Broome County STOP-DWI added a music festival to the Chris Thater Memorial and it was a tremendous success. Spectators have been able to watch world class racing, take in the expo displays and enjoy great food while being entertained by some outstanding local bands. The music festival has grown from 12 bands in 2009 to 21 this year.

The following bands will perform at the 2011 Chris Thater Memorial Music Festival:

Panigma, Reprise 60’s, Hailey and Shawn, Monkeys Typing, Channel Monster, Horseshoe Lounge Playboys, One Click Culture, Mel and The Boys, Brian Wolff Band, Kelly Birtch, Scott Freeman Band, Miles Ahead Jazz Quartet, Ed Maloney Memorial Pipe Band, Too Many Hoys, 4i, Bad Weather Blues, Magnolia Drive, GLEEPAC, Swag, Mike Cadden and Rooster and the Roadhouse Horns.

The Chris Thater Memorial Music Festival will take place at Recreation Park in Binghamton on Saturday, August 27^th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, August 28^th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please visit www.bcstopdwi.com for a schedule of performances or visit the event on Facebook.

2011 marks the 28^th year of the Chris Thater Memorial. This free community event is organized to heighten awareness about drunk driving and to promote healthy lifestyles. It is named in honor of Chris Thater, an avid cyclist who was killed by a drunk driver.
