Conklin Senior Citizens Club to Host Senior Drive, a Driving Wellness Checklist© Event

Thursday, July 7th
1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
(BINGHAMTON - NY) The Conklin Senior Citizens Club in conjunction with the Broome County Older Drivers Network, will hold Senior Drive, a Driving Wellness Checklist© event for seniors. The event will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Floyd L. Maines Community Center located at 942 Conklin Road, Conklin, NY.
Senior Drive is a program that seeks to empower older drivers by helping them understand their vehicle better and increase their safety within their vehicle. It’s easy, it’s free and it takes just 20 minutes.
While people of any age seek independence through driving, the ability drive becomes increasingly important to people as they age. Changing health conditions, however, may interfere with the older driver’s ability to drive safely. Senior Drive can help.
Drivers who attend the event will be provided with an in-vehicle safety assessment. Each participant will have an opportunity to meet privately with a Senior Drive Technician to discuss topics relating to their own vehicle that may affect their driving. Senior Drive Technicians will provide insightful information on adjustments and in-vehicle safety that will help keep drivers safer behind the wheel and driving longer.
Older drivers who are interested in attending this event should contact Sara Gdovin at the Broome County Office for Aging at 607.778.2411 to schedule an appointment. Appointments are encouraged but “drive-ins” are welcome on this day.
