County Executive Patrick Brennan, County Clerk Rick Blythe, Broome County Veterans Services Director Brian Vojtisek, and Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Lou Santoni today announced the Broome County Veterans Discount program.

Honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. armed forces can obtain the card by applying at the Office of the County Clerk and presenting their discharge papers. Many veterans have their discharge on file at the County Clerk’s Office already. The application process takes about ten minutes and cards are issued the same day as a complete application is submitted.

Businesses can participate voluntarily by registering on the county’s web site www.gobroomecounty.com and posting a discount of their choosing. Then, veterans present the card at the time of purchase to receive the discount.

County Executive Patrick Brennan said, “This is a fitting tribute to our nation’s veterans here in Broome County. Participating businesses can show their support for our veterans and veterans can receive a little extra thanks for their service”.

Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Lou Santoni said, “the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a co-sponsor of this program. Many member businesses are participating in the Broome County Veterans Discount Program”.

County Clerk Rick Blythe said, “this is one small way this community can show our thanks to those who have served”.
