County Executive announces details of 2011 Broome County Fair
(Triangle, NY) County Executive Patrick Brennan and officials of the Broome Agricultural Society announced details of the 137th Annual Broome County Fair. The Fair will take place Tuesday, July 26 through Sunday, July 31, 2011. County Executive Brennan spoke along with 11th District Broome County Legislator Ronald J. Keibel and Charles Sweet, President of the Board of Directors of the Broome County Agricultural Society at the county Fair Grounds.
Brennan said, “People from Broome County and beyond gather here in Whitney Point every July for the Broome County Fair, one of the many great events of the summer. The 2011 Broome County Fair will be as exciting as ever.”
“The Fair reminds us of the importance that agriculture plays in the overall economy of Broome County. As it says on their web site, the Fair is where we ‘bring our tools and domesticated animals together to admire their strength’. I congratulate them on their 137th year,” Brennan said.
According to their web site, “this famous rural event, which traditionally opens its gates to visitors from across New York State during the last week in July, has a rich history reaching back to 1871 in Whitney Point. Annually, the Fair Board exhibits numerous attractions at the Fairgrounds, such as agricultural equipment and car shows, but the climax of the year comes when the Broome County Fair is held, bringing thrills and cheers to children of all ages.”
County Executive Brennan was joined by 11th District Broome County Legislator Ronald J. Keibel and several members of the Board of Directors of Broome County Agricultural Society including Charles Sweet, President; Charles Franklin, Vice President; Tom Decker, Treasurer.
