Executive Brennan Recognizes Employees

Life saved at Ostiningo Park
Broome County Executive Patrick J. Brennan recognized 3 county employees on June 21st for their involvement in an incident involving an unconscious male at Otsiningo Park on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 that was revived by Broome County personnel.
The following individuals were recognized:
· Senior Emergency Services Dispatcher James Bryan
· Security Officer Michelle Clarke
· Deputy Thomas Sienko
On Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 Security Officer Michelle Clarke was assigned to bicycle patrol at Otsiningo Park. At approximately 6:35 P.M., Broome County Senior Emergency Services Dispatcher James Bryan received and dispatched a 911 call from Otsiningo Park regarding a male down and not breathing. Officer Clarke immediately biked over to the call area at the playground and located a male unconscious and not breathing. Clarke performed CPR on the victim and revived him. Within the same timeframe, Broome County Sheriff Deputy Thomas Sienko arrived on the scene and assisted Officer Clarke. As Deputy Sienko attended to the male with EMS, Officer Clarke secured the scene and any witnesses for further follow up.
Through the quick action of Dispatcher Bryan and Officer Clarke as well as the assistance of Deputy Sienko, the life of this individual was saved and this incident resulted in a successful outcome.
“The employees involved in this incident are well trained individuals and I am proud of their professionalism and quick response to do what was necessary to the save the life of the individual involved in the incident,” Brennan said.
