Executive Brennan Recognizes Employees
Life saved at Cole Park
On June 21st, 2011 Broome County Executive Patrick J. Brennan recognized 11 county employees for there involvement in a June 17th near drowning incident at Cole Park in which they helped revive a 14 year old unconscious male.
The following individuals were recognized:
· Emergency Services Dispatcher Craig Raymond
· Emergency Services Dispatcher Dennis Hill
· Lifeguard Eric Lipski
· Lifeguard Brooke Personius
· Lifeguard Logan Nagle
· Lifeguard Sam Wysocki
· Lifeguard Justine Dadamio
· Waterfront Director Betsy Howard
· Park Manager Shane Hodges
· Deputy Daniel Wilcox
· Security Officer Tony Deruvo
On Friday, June 17th, 2011, at approximately 10:43 A.M., beachfront staff at Cole Park reacted to what appeared to be a swimmer in trouble. Lifeguard Eric Lipski and Waterfront Director Betsy Howard brought an unconscious 14 year old male to the shore and checked for vital signs. Brooke Personius and Betsy Howard immediately began performing CPR. At the same time, Justine Dadamio telephoned Broome County’s emergency Dispatch Center where Dispatchers Criag Raymond and Dennis Hill assisted with the call and dispatched the closest ambulance. Lifeguards Logan Nagle and Sam Wysocki were standing by to assist with the rescue. Broome County Sheriff Deputy Daniel Wilcox and Broome Security Officer Tony Deruvo also responded to assist.
Through the keen observation of Lifeguard Eric Lipski and the quick action of Brooke Personius, and Betsy Howard along with Logan Nagle, Sam Wysocki, Justine Dadamio, all acting under the supervision of Park Manager Shane Hodges, the life of this individual was saved and this incident resulted in a successful outcome.
“The employees involved in this incident are well trained individuals and I am proud of their professionalism and quick response to do what was necessary to the save the life of the individual involved in the incident,” Brennan said.
