Preston Declares State of Emergency In Broome County

(Binghamton, NY) – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston has declared a State of Emergency for Broome County, beginning at 4pm today, October 29th, 2012.
Associated with the State of Emergency, the following orders are hereby issued:
· No gatherings in places of public assembly.
· Ingress and Egress of vehicles and persons is prohibited and/or subject to the following regulations: Persons and vehicles shall stay away from areas of flooded roadways, downed trees and power lines.
· The presence of persons on public streets, roads and places is prohibited in an area bounded by Broome County, beginning at 4:00 PM, Monday October 29, 2012, until rescinded, with the exception of health care workers, public utility, public works, essential government employees, and first responders.
· The presence of persons on waterways for recreational purposes is prohibited or restricted as follows: No use of waterways for recreational purposes from 4:00 PM Monday, October 29, 2012 until rescinded.
