Preston To Host Broome County Disaster Preparedness Fair
(Binghamton, NY) -- Broome County Executive Debbie Preston today announced details for the first-ever Broome County Disaster Preparedness Fair, at a News Conference at the County’s Public Safety Facility. She was joined by Emergency Services Director Brett Chellis.
“Broome County is no stranger to disasters,” said Preston. “While we cannot stop Mother Nature’s wrath, we can all be better prepared when a storm is approaching. The Broome County Disaster Preparedness Fair will educate the public on how to best handle approaching storms and other disasters.”
The Broome County Disaster Preparedness Fair will take place on Wednesday, September 26th, from 3-8pm, at the Binghamton University Events Center. Nearly 40 exhibits will educate the public on how to prepare themselves, their families, neighbors, property and pets from looming disasters.
“Not a week goes by that we aren’t carefully tracking and monitoring weather patterns that pose a threat to our region,” said Chellis. “When a potentially dangerous storm is imminent, we notify the public through every possible medium, but there are plans that all Broome County residents can familiarize themselves with that significantly decrease the threat to themselves and their families.”
