Severe Storm of 5/26/11

 Two dry ice and drinking water distribution sites available

Broome County Office of Emergency Services is monitoring the status of widespread power outages and downed trees and powerlines in Broome County as a result of the severe thunderstorms with high winds which we experienced Thursday evening.   The Broome County 911 Center fielded 1156 calls in the first two hours of the storm.   NYSEG has been updating us on their efforts of damage assessment, making areas as safe as possible, and carrying out restoration of service.  

Also, they have asked us to help coordinate two dry ice and drinking water distribution sites in Broome County.   They have informed us that they will be open the following times:

Friday, May 27, 2011:  

West Windsor Fire Company,  8 Karla Dr, Windsor  13865            

8:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Chenango Bridge Fire Company Station 1, 13 Kattelville Rd, Binghamton 13901     

8:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Windsor Fire Co. has fresh drinking water and limited ice cubes at  the Windsor Fire Station, 124 Main St.
