 Additional Requirements:
  • Student must be continuously active with one or more NYS-recognized EMS agency or agencies providing care at or above the level at which the student is recertifying via the Pilot Recertification Program.
  • Both the student and the EMS agency must be recognized by NYS EMS as participating in the Pilot Recertification Program (all required paperwork must be completed, signed, and filed with NYS EMS).
  • Student must have current, valid certification, at or above the level at which he/she is recertifying, and which does not expire until a minimum of 45 days after all program requirements will be completed, and final paperwork filed with NYS EMS.
  • ALL candidates must maintain current Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer CPR certification.
  • Paramedic candidates (only) must maintain current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. This requirement exceeds the content of the Core Curriculum, and is the individual responsibility of the Pilot Recertification Program candidate.
  • Verification of competency in all skills areas specified on the Pilot Recertification Program completion form for the level at which the candidate is recertifying. This may be accomplished via direct observation, quality assurance and quality improvement programs, or practical skills laboratory. A formal practical skills examination may be used, but is not required. Documentation of how each skill area has been verified must be produced and maintained in the student’s record.
