County facilities to close for Thanksgiving holiday

Broome County Executive Patrick Brennan announced today that many Broome County facilities normally open to the public Monday through Friday will be closed on Thursday and Friday this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. This includes the following

·        Edwin L Crawford County Office Building, 60 Hawley Street, Binghamton
·        George Harvey Justice Building, 45 Hawley Street, Binghamton
·        Department of Social Services, 38-42 Main Street, Binghamton
·        Health Department, 225 Front Street, Binghamton
·        Mental Health Department, 229 State Street, Binghamton
·        Office of Employment and Training, 171 Front Street, Binghamton
·        Broome County Correctional Facility (no visitation Thursday or Friday)
·        Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street, Binghamton (resume regular hours Saturday)
A separate notice was sent by the County Clerk regarding DMV offices.
The following facilities will be closed Thursday only and resuming regular hours on Friday
·        Broome County Landfill, Dunham Hill Road
Broome County Facilities to remain open to the public include
·        Greater Binghamton Regional Airport (regular operation)
·        Greater Binghamton Transportation Facility (no BC Transit service)
·        Willow Point Nursing Home (regular operation and visitation)
·        Parks (all parks operating regular off season hours)
Broome County Services
·        Meals on Wheels – Meals can be delivered on Thanksgiving Day, if pre-arranged. There is no meal delivery on Friday, November 25, 2011
·        B.C. Transit – no services on Thanksgiving Day

Brennan said, “I wish all families residing in or visiting Broome County a happy Thanksgiving. I also want to thank county employees who have to work through all or part of the holiday weekend for their dedicated service.”
