(Johnson City, NY) – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston and Legislator Mike Sopchak announced B.C. Transit will extend its hours Thursdays through Saturdays during the Holiday Season.
Preston and Sopchak teamed up with Nancy Phillips, Director of Marketing for the Oakdale Mall, to announce the change in schedule.
Starting Thursday, November 21st, hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights will extend from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The extended service hours will also be in place on Monday, December 23rd.
In addition, fares during those times will be cut in half from $2.00 to $1.00 during the Holiday Season.
“We’re proud to announce the extended hours during the holiday season to help families not only support local stores, but provide a brighter holiday season for their children,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston. “These additional hours prove that my commitment remains to provide the best possible service for the riders.”
“This is another example of the County providing additional transportation services to meet a community need,” said Broome County Legislator Michael Sopchak. “These expanded schedules and reduced fares will benefit both shoppers and employees and will provide enhanced connections to an important shopping destination during this holiday season.”
On Thursdays and Fridays, the #57 Shoppers Special and the #55 Endwell Shuttle will provide the extended hours. All Transit busses will extend to 9:00 pm on Saturday nights.
“We are pleased that the County has made this change to help people in our community have more access to our stores,” Phillips says. “This will be a benefit not only to community members, but also to store owners.”
