Broome County Congratulates Maine-Endwell High School S.A.D.D. Students for Their Efforts in Promoting Traffic Safety

BCTSB PSA Contest

ENDWELL, N.Y. – In the spring of 2010, the New York State Association of Traffic Safety Boards conducted a public service announcement (PSA) contest for all 9 – 12 graders in New York State. The purpose of the contest was to identify five radio or video spots that will persuade teens to make life-saving choices to prevent motor vehicle crashes, injuries and deaths. Entries consisted of a 30 second PSA and could be on the topic of drowsy driving, safety belt use, driving distractions, impaired driving or speeding/aggressive driving.

For the second time since the contest’s inception, a winning team has been selected from Broome County. Congratulations to Sarah Sabin, Daniel Clink, Jr., and Joe Brenon from Maine-Endwell High School who all received an honorable mention for their video PSA on safety belt use.   The team will receive a monetary award of $100 which will go directly to the Maine-Endwell S.A.D.D. chapter and a certificate from the State and from Broome County. In recognition of their efforts, the Broome County Traffic Safety Program surprised the S.A.D.D. students with a pizza party at their last meeting. Sarah, Daniel and Joe are all S.A.D.D. students of Mr. John Perricone who utilized this contest as a S.A.D.D. group activity.   The Broome County Traffic Safety Board would like to recognize Maine-Endwell High School for helping to promote safe driving among teen drivers.
