BINGHAMTON, NY – To help continue the fight against chronic disease and obesity in Broome County, Legislator Mark Whalen has challenged his fellow legislators to an 8 week walking challenge to inspire residents to take preventive action toward reducing their risk of chronic disease and maintaining good health. With assistance from the Broome County Health Department’s Strategic Alliance for Health Consortium and support of the Broome County Executive Office, the challenge will kick off tomorrow at Otsiningo Park with a press conference at 10:00 a.m. in the upper pavilion area. Following the press conference, the Legislators and Strategic Alliance for Health Consortium will walk around the inner loop of Otsiningo Park around the playground area. Please come out and show your support for reducing the burden of obesity in our community through this event.
