Broome County Legislature Honors Green Initiative Recognition Program Recipients
(Binghamton, NY) On April 22nd, 2010 at the Legislative Session, in honor of Earth Day, Chairman Daniel D. Reynolds (D- Vestal) announced the recipients of the Brome County Legislature’s Third Annual Green Initiative Recognition Program. The Green Initiative Recognition Program encourages Broome County residents to nominate a local organization that has instituted “green” programs.
After the nomination deadline on April 2, Legislative Intern Ariel Schlesinger conducted an evaluation of the nominated organizations and their environmental practices. The Legislature awarded twelve organizations that have displayed exemplary leadership and have instituted creative environmental programs that go above and beyond mandated regulations.
The Broome County Legislature recognized each honoree with an official proclamation signed by the Chairman of the Broome County Legislature, Daniel D. Reynolds, and the Legislator of the District in which the business or organization is located. The following businesses and organizations received Legislative Proclamations for their “green” practices. Please see the attached list for a description of each organization’s green initiative.
