Mark R. Whalen (D) represents residents of Binghamton's East side and South side.
Mr. Whalen has been elected to nine two-year terms, and will serve as Legislature Chairman throughout 2007-2008. He formerly represented residents in the city's third legislative district for one term, and has subsequently served constituents in Binghamton's first legislative district for the last fourteen years.
During his sixteen years as a county lawmaker, Mr. Whalen has chaired the Transportation Committee and the Personnel Committee, and has also served as a member of the following committees: Community and Social Services; County Administration, Economic Development and Planning Committee; Finance; Health Services; Intergovernmental Relations; and Public Safety and Emergency Services.
Mr. Whalen is a NYS certified paramedic with the City of Binghamton's Fire Department, and is the Captain of the city's one hundred foot Aerial Platform Truck.
Legislator Whalen resides at 11 The Arena Street on the South side of the City of Binghamton.
