John A. Black (R) was first elected to the Broome County Legislature in November 2006 and again in November 2010. He represents the 16^th District which includes parts of Endwell, ChoconutCenter and the southeast portion of the Town of Maine.

Mr. Black is a practicing attorney with over 30 year’s experience. In addition, he has held a variety of important positions in banking (Trust Departments), is the former Director of the Estate Planning Council of the Southern Tier, and is a Past President of the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad. John has a strong history of volunteerism including as a member of the United Way allocation panel, a WSKG auction volunteer, and is an active member of the Endwell Rotary Club (including Past President, Vice President & Secretary positions).

John is focused on facing the challenges that the County has regarding economic development, fiscal responsibility and governmental cooperation. John routinely attends local government Board meetings in his legislative district to stay informed of issues facing his constituents.

John previously served on the Health and Human Services Committee and the County Administration Committee. He is currently the Chairman of the Economic & Rural Development and Planning Committee and serves as a member of the Education, Culture and Recreation Committee and the County Administration Committee.
