Ron Heebner (R), a newcomer to elected office, represents South Side Johnson City including Westover and Fairmount Park in the Town of Union.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Ron has been a Broome County resident for 42 years, a Johnson City resident for 33 years, and married to the former Patricia Sinicki for 39 years.
Ron graduated from West Chester State College (PA) receiving a Bachelor’s degree in History, with concentrations in Political Science and Sociology. While working in Boston, MA, Ron took courses at Harvard University in the Government and Politics of Eastern Europe and Spanish. He is a Dale Carnegie sales graduate, a National Association of Home Builders Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), and has received 26 hours of certified Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training.
His past employment includes the Christian Science Monitor, Boston, MA, as a messenger and reporter; Scott Paper Company, Philadelphia, PA, as a senior sales representative; and Pat Cummiskey & Son, Johnson City, NY, as a salesman, estimator and project manager. He owned and operated Ron Heebner & Co., Inc., a residential remodeling company in Johnson City, for 26 years.
Ron’s business affiliations and community involvement include: Southern Tier Home Builders and Remodelors Association Board of Directors (15 years), President (2004), Government and Codes Committee, monthly newsletter Editor; National and New York State Builders Association (17 years); Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee (25 years); Southern Tier Building Officials Association; Blessed Sacrament Church, Johnson City, as lector, Eucharistic minister, renovation committee member, past vice-president of Parish Council; Johnson City Police Academy graduate and Neighborhood Watch block captain; and Johnson City Rotary Club (2008 Johnson City Rotarian of the Year). He enjoys joining his wife, Patti, in keeping the weeds of the gardens at the Johnson City Traffic Circle under control.
Items on his radar screen include cutting the cost of government to lower our taxes to attract private investors, having guarantees that drilling and gas supply companies will respond immediately to any accident or environmental hazard involving their activities in Broome County, and working with local authorities to help our homeowners reclaim their neighborhoods that are becoming infested with physical and social decay.
