Barry Klipsch (D) was elected to his first term on the County Legislature in November, 2008. His legislative district is comprised of western Vestal.

 

Barry is a proponent of, among other objectives, fiscally responsible budgets, efficiency in government, economic development initiatives, open government that brings government closer to the people it represents, cleaning up area brownfields, consolidation efforts, and support of Broome Community College.

 

Barry is a US Army Veteran and is employed as a statistician at SGS. He formerly worked for IBM and as an adjunct professor with Broome Community College. His community involvement includes membership in the local Elks lodge and American Legion post, President of Vestal Dollars for Scholars, and President of Vestal Service Organization.

 

Barry attended DePauw University, earning a B.A. in Mathematics and the University of Illinois where he earned his M.S. degree in Mathematics.

 

Barry and wife Elizabeth, a full professor of mathematics at BCC, live in the Town of Vestal.
