Timothy P. Cleary (D) was elected to his first term on the County Legislature in November, 2006. His legislative district is primarily comprised of the City of Binghamton’s West Side and First Ward.
Tim is committed to improving economic opportunities in Broome County through bipartisan teamwork. He believes that individuals and the business community, especially small businesses, need to have a greater voice in the way government impacts their lives.
Tim retired from the US Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Agency after 20 years of service as a Community Development Specialist. He has also served as a Union Steward with the American Federation of Government Employees Local 2831 and as chairperson for the USDA’s Rural Development Equal Employment Advisory Committee.
Mr. Cleary is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agribusiness Economics as well as SUNY Cobleskill graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Agriculture & Natural Resources. Tim is a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Parish, a CYO basketball coach and volunteer, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a member of the Westside Neighborhood Alliance.
