County Saves $10k By Busting Welfare Fraud

(Binghamton, NY) -- Eleven Broome County residents were arrested for Welfare Fraud in January. The arrests are a result of an on-going Welfare Fraud investigation by the Broome County Security Division.


“Broome County is diligent about cracking down on Welfare Fraud; these arrests are a testament to our tremendous Security Division,” said County Executive Debbie Preston. “These are difficult times for everyone, but those abusing the system must be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” she went on to say.

Preston and Jensen: Parks Belong To People; Not Politicians

 

(Binghamton, NY) -- Broome County Executive Debbie Preston and Legislator David Jensen (R-Endicott) today removed the last sign with the name of the Executive on County property. This month they will introduce a resolution to the County Legislature to prohibit the placement of the County Executive’s name on signs that adorn all County Buildings, Parks and Property.
 

Legislature Adopts Preston's 5% Salary Cut Resolution

 

 

(Binghamton, NY) -- The Broome County Legislature on Thursday approved Resolution 32-2, which will reduce salaries of 64 County employees by 5% or more. This resolution was submitted by County Executive Debbie Preston.

County Executive Debbie Preston Announces $500,000 in Flood Relief for Businesses

 

(Binghamton, NY) Today Broome County Executive Debbie Preston announced that funding will be available through The New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation’s Office of Community Renewal (OCR), in the amount of $500,000, to assist local businesses affected by flooding.

(BINGHAMTON, NY) – The Broome County Health Department will be holding a flu clinic at their offices located at 225 Front Street, Binghamton, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Clinics are open to the county residents ages 3 and up.

Broome Closes Shelter

Broome County Executive Pat Brennan announced today that the shelter that was housing special needs evacuees since September 7, 2011 closed on Wednesday, December 14th.
