Johnson City Senior Center

What makes aging "successful "? The first definition of "successful" in Webster's® Dictionary is "the gaining of something desired, planned, or attempted". As we age, we can continue to gain so many things. It is a space in our lives when we have the time to explore new opportunities as well as continue to develop on-going interests.

The Johnson City Senior Center believes that aging is about place and relationships #39;and about gaining all that life has to offer whether this is gaining experience, wisdom, friends, ideas, information, skills or health. The center offers you opportunities to socialize through recreational activities, expand your mind through education and the arts, improve your health through education and exercise, and to give back to your community through volunteer service.- The center celebrates all aspects of life and works to meet the needs of all seniors by offering a variety of programs.

When you visit the center you will find activities that will meet your needs. On Monday morning, you may play guitar or line dance. After lunch, there's Bingo, or you can knit or crochet with other yarn lovers. On Tuesday morning, you can go back to school with the Broome Community College course "Social Problems". After lunch, you can see the spectacular HBO series "John Adams". Wednesday activities include a creative writing seminar, health education and computer classes, and Bingo.

There are plenty of activities on Thursday and Friday, too. You may "visit" Kuwait, India and Poland through the education classes, learn how to use eBay to sell items you no longer need, or simply hoot it up with a lively game of shuffleboard. If you are interested in the technological innovations that are so much a part of our local history, join the Center of Innovation and Technology as members re-live that history.

Come join us! Let us be part of your plan for successful aging.- We are here to serve all seniors in Broome County and beyond.

The Johnson City Senior Center, located at 30 Brocton Street in Johnson City, is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.- You can read more about us at www.johnsoncityseniorcenter.org.
