Shared Services Information Session Scheduled

BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala and Binghamton Mayor Richard Bucci invite the public to share their ideas and questions about the Shared Services approach to municipal government.

Broome County municipal leaders have been meeting since April to discuss ways they can work together to provide the same level of services to residents but provide those services in a more cost effective manner. Since most of the municipalities are already sharing many services most believe there are more areas to explore. Currently the County, City, Towns and Villages are exploring ways they can work together on insurance, courts, highways and parks and recreation.

Now municipal leaders want to hear from the public. An information gathering session will be held Monday, July 25th, 2005 at 5:30PM in Binghamton's City Council Chambers. People wishing to speak at the session will be limited to the topic of Shared Services and will be limited to 5 minutes.

This will be the first of three information gathering sessions. Two others are planned for the Town of Union and the Town of Kirkwood.
