County Unveils New Website

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Broome County Legislator Jason Shaw and Karen Andrews from the County’s IT department to unveil the brand new look of the County website.

“This has been a long time coming,” says County Executive Debbie Preston.  “This new site not only has a more modern look but it has been improved in so many ways, it goes beyond just looking better. It has more information, and is easier for our citizens to navigate and our departments to update.”

The new site has more information, is easier to navigate, search, and discover new information about Broome County.

Users will find newly created web forms that can be submitted online instead of having to be printed out and mailed in.

It has an “I Want To” section that provides quick links to some of the information people are most likely to be looking for on a daily basis.

It also has a Broome A to Z guide which is an alphabetical list of topics that you can find on our site.

The new site also features a community calendar where people can see County events that are going on throughout the year.

Also, the new site provides information and links for people looking to live and work in our community, as well as information on Special events, Community and Culture, College and Pro sports information and so much more.

We have incorporated a Facebook feed, not only on the main page, but also on several of the department pages, connecting even more people who are seeking information.

“The new site will be mobile ready, have greater security and more information accessible to the public in an easy to use format," said County Legislator Jason Shaw (Endwell).  "The County's website has needed an upgrade for many years and the Legislature is proud to have provided the funding to help make it happen."

The web address for the new website will still be gobroomecounty.com.

Catalogue and Commerce was the web company that completed the upgrade of the new site.

The upgrade of the website cost about $30,000 and was paid for using the hotel/motel fund.

“I am pleased with how the new website turned out and have to thank everyone involved,” says Preston.  “Not only does it provide information on County Government, but also our entire community, which will be a benefit not only for people living here, but also for people looking to visit Broome County.”
