Severe Delays Expected on Old Vestal Road Starting Monday

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Commissioner of Public Works Dan Schofield to notify motorists of severe delays on Old Vestal Road, starting Monday.

Those who travel on Old Vestal Road should expect long delays and traffic backups for the next month or so due to construction of the Binghamton Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment Plant.

Motorists are encouraged to use the Vestal Parkway between Bunn Hill Road and Murray Hill Road to avoid traffic backups.

“We’ve talked to the Mayors of Binghamton and Johnson City and have decided to ask motorists to avoid that area if possible,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.  “We understand this may be an inconvenience for some, but this is being done with the safety of our motorists as well as the hundreds of workers involved in the project in mind.”

This work is not expected to cause any disruption to B.C. Transit service.
