Construction on Airport Road Starting Monday, April 11

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Commissioner of Public Works Dan Schofield to notify motorists of a construction project on Airport Road in the Towns of Union and Dickinson, starting Monday, April 11th.

The Airport Road (CR 69) Reconstruction project will entail reconstructing the four-lane road from near the Stella Ireland Road intersection to the Lewis Road intersection.

Crews will be removing the existing concrete roadway and replacing it with a full-depth asphalt section.  Upgrades to guiderail, drainage and the signal at the Airport Road/East Maine Road/Lewis Road are also included in this project.

While the work is going on, there will be one lane open in either direction.

The project is being sponsored by Broome County, with funding made available through New York State Department of Transportation.

Work is expected to be complete by Fall.
