Old Vestal Road to be Reduced to One Lane

Change necessary for construction of new Joint Sewage Treatment Plant

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Commissioner of Public Works Dan Schofield announces the alteration of traffic on Old Vestal Road starting Monday, May 23rd.

Old Vestal Road will be restricted to one lane, traveling east between Bunn Hill Road and Murray Hill Road.

West bound traffic will be prohibited and motorists are asked to use the Vestal Parkway in that area.

The ramp from Route 434 to Old Vestal Road will be open to local traffic only.

The change in traffic is necessary so that Joint Sewage Treatment plant owners, Binghamton and Johnson City, can complete the construction of the new Joint Sewage Treatment plant in Vestal.

The road closures are not expected to cause any disruption in B.C. Transit service or other businesses along Old Vestal Road.

The closure is expected to last two years.
