Preston Outlines Improvements to En-Joie Golf Course

Endicott, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Broome County Legislators and En-Joie Professional Mike Deuel to outline some of the improvements made at En-Joie Golf Course.

“We know this golf course is where the pro’s play, but we also want it to be where local people play,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.  “The upgrades made to the golf course complex will also make En-Joie more of a destination adventure for people from outside of the area.”

The County Facilities crew built this brand new 650 square foot deck that is attached to the restaurant on the second floor.

This is a great place for golfers to stop and enjoy a drink or a meal after a round of golf, and will make this better equipped to handle parties and banquets.

Also in April, the owners of Joey’s Pizza and Italian Ice took over Food and Beverage Operations at En-Joie Golf Club and opened DeGennaro’s at En-Joie.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve also made upgrades in our pro shop, men’s locker room, kitchen cooking areas and the restaurant dining area.

The County has also made some significant upgrades to the golf course.

Those improvements include selectively removing trees throughout the course over the past 8 years to improve turfgrass health and increase playability for golfers.

Crews have designed and built two new teeing grounds to improve golfer satisfaction.

“We want the golfers to enjoy their experience not only from tee to green, but from the moment they enter our parking lot to the time they leave,” says PGA Professional Mike Deuel.  “I want to thank the County for working with us to make improvements to our course that is the best conditioned golf course in the region all season long.”

En-Joie is the home of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open which runs from July 6th through the 10th.
