BINGHAMTON, NY - The Broome County Environmental Management Council (EMC) invites amateur photographers, and local high school students to submit photographs of Broome County’s environment for the 2007 Joyce K.L. Smith Environmental Photography Show & Competition. The purpose is to showcase all aspects of Broome County’s natural and cultural surroundings.

Entrants can submit up to three (3) photographs for competition in five (5) categories: Wildlife, Plantlife, Natural Landscape, Cultural Landscape, and People in Action. A panel of local arts professionals will select one (1) winner and up to five (5) runners-up in each category. Judges will also pick the best photo from a local high school student for recognition. The entry deadline is Wednesday, March 7.

Co-sponsors Silver Image Photographics, Tuthill’s Photo & Digital, Garland Gallery, Che Bella! Fine Framing, and Beveled Edge will furnish prizes. Winners and honorable mentions will be exhibited at the Broome County Library during May and June. The public is invited to an opening reception and awards ceremony at the Library Wednesday, May 9 from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
