Senate Majority Leader Smith Visits Binghamton to Discuss Economic Development with Local Leaders


(BINGHAMTON, NY) State Senate Majority Leader Malcolm A. Smith visited the City of Binghamton today where he and Senator David J. Valesky met with Mayor Matthew Ryan, Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo to discuss Upstate economic development and other local concerns. After their meeting, the public officials met with over 40 area business and community leaders from throughout Broome County.


Governor Paterson Outlines Initiatives to Rebound New York State

(BINGHAMTON, NY) Today, Governor David Paterson delivered his first State of the State Address before lawmakers and distinguished guests in Albany. Broome County Executive Barbara J. Fiala was in attendance to listen to the Governor’s plan for the people of New York State and residents of Broome County. Recognizing the poor financial conditions, Governor Paterson outlined initiatives designed to: Balance the state budget, ignite economic growth through green enterprise, build education systems, and improve infrastructure. 

Christmas Tree Recycling at Grippen Park


(Binghamton, NY)  Broome County Parks and Recreation Department will collect Christmas trees at Grippen Park in Endicott, NY. Trees will be collected from December 26th, 2008 through January 4th, 2009. The trees will be recycled into wood chips for use on the nature trails in county parks. Trees must be free of all decorations and tinsel.
