Preston Delivers 2017 Budget Address

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston outlined her proposed financial outlook for 2017 in her annual Budget Address in front of the Broome County Legislature.

This year’s proposed budget is a $370 million spending plan.  It comes with a tax levy increase of 0.77%, which is below the 0.9% New York State tax cap.

The increase equates a $3.78 increase for a home assessed at $80,000.

Former Discovery Center Executive Director Given Star on Wall of Stars

Broome County Executive Debbie Preston is proud to join the Friends of the Forum in announcing Margaret (Pokey) Crocker is the most recent recipient of a Star on its Wall of Stars.

The County Executive’s Office was joined by members of the Friends of the Forum to present the star to Crocker, in honor of her years of contributions and achievements as the Executive Director of the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, a position she held for 27 years.

September is National Preparedness Month

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston teamed up with Broome County Legislator Scott Baker, Disaster Preparedness Coordinator Michael Ponticiello and the American Red Cross to announce details of National Preparedness Month.

“We can’t prevent a natural disaster from happening in our community, and we know how devastating they can be,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.  “We want to make sure as many people are prepared as possible to minimize the damage when the next disaster occurs.”
