(Binghamton, NY)  Broome County is resurfacing Old Vestal Road and while the work is being done, drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.  The project which got underway this week includes milling and paving.  The project impacts a large section of Old Vestal Road in Vestal from Jensen Rd to the westbound NYS Route 17 on-ramp near 4th Ave. Expect delays, as traffic is being reduced to single lanes.

Work is expected to continue until May 21st, depending on the weather.  During the day the crews will be active from 6am until 6pm.  Again, avoiding Old Vestal Road if at all possible is the best option.

A quick update on another county project:  Earlier this week, the Vestal-Endicott bridge which is being rehabilitated, was closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.  That was only temporary and was necessitated by the fact that heavy winds removed the covering which protected people from the debris produced by the bridge work.  The problem has been remedied and people can now walk and ride their bikes across the bridge again.  The bridge, however, remains closed to vehicle traffic.
