Delta Connection Celebrates First Year Of Outstanding Service At The Greater Binghamton Airport

BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive, Jeff Kraham today joined representatives from the Delta Connection/Comair in celebrating Delta Connection's very successful first year providing service at the Greater Binghamton Airport.

Beginning on January 29, 2003 Comair began operating 3 daily round-trip, nonstop, jet service flights between Cincinnati and Binghamton. For the first time travelers were given access to Cincinnati from Binghamton, which provided additional service and competition for the travelers of this region.

In just one year 20,747 people boarded Delta Connection flights at the Greater Binghamton Airport. According to Delta Connection records, combining passenger enplanements and passenger deplanements approximately 42,250 people were transported between Binghamton and Cincinnati on their flights. Delta Connection accounted for 16% of all passenger boardings at the Binghamton facility, a major accomplishment for a first year airline attempting to establish themselves in our community.

In addition for the year 2003, the local Binghamton Comair station ranked #2 out of 114 Comair Stations in Key Performance Indicators. This ranking system is determined by using on-time performance, completion of flights, number of bags lost per passenger among other variables.

"Delta Connection has been a catalyst for new travel activity in our region. This airline took a significant role in increasing overall passenger boardings by 11.7% at the Greater Binghamton Airport in 2003," said Broome County Executive Jeff Kraham. "The confidence that Delta Connection has shown in our community and the dedication of the local employees who work for Delta at the Greater Binghamton Airport have been a major factor in our airport's success," said Kraham.
