Tournament Field Announced for 2005 STOP-DWI Holiday Classic

BINGHAMTON, NY - March Madness may be a distant memory, but it will be December Madness in Broome County when the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic tips off December 27-29 for the 14th Annual edition of the event. The tournament will again feature an eight team national and two four team regional divisions.

Challenging for 2005 National Division honors will be the tournament's 1992 inaugural year champion Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School from Brooklyn, New York; powerful Taft High School of Cincinnati, Ohio; 2004 3rd place finisher Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School of Cleveland, Ohio and reigning New York State Catholic School AA Champ and New York State Federation AA runner-up, Xaverian High School of Brooklyn, New York. Rounding out the national field will be Franklin County High School of Frankfort, Kentucky; Friendly High School of Fort Washington, Maryland; Landstown High School of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and tournament sponsor and host Binghamton High School.

Chenango Forks High School

"The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is well known for being one of the best run tournaments in the Northeast," said Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala. "That credit goes to Jim May and Rick Westfall of Broome County STOP-DWI. It appears they have once again put together a top notch schedule with first rate teams from the Northeast and beyond."

As always, the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic will be held at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
