Dick's Sporting Goods Donates $20,000 to STOP-DWI Program
Vestal, N.Y. -- This morning, at the Dick's Sporting Goods, Town Square Mall, Broome County Executive Jeffrey P. Kraham received a $20,000 donation from Dick's Sporting Goods for continued support of Broome County's STOP-DWI efforts.
Stephen Erni, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania D.U.I. Association, representing Dick's Sporting Goods, made the presentation to Mr. Kraham.
Students from Binghamton High School were also on hand for the ceremony this morning.
"For more than fifteen years, Dick's Sporting Goods has been a leading local force in the fight to end drunk driving in our community," said Mr. Kraham. "I am pleased to be here at Dick's to accept this generous donation on behalf of the people of Broome County."
And the partnership at Dick's Sporting Goods has with Broome County is paying off. Since 1981, the number of D.W.I. fatalities in Broome County is down 77%. In addition, the number of drivers aged 20 and under involved in alcohol-related crashes is down 73%.
