"Pops on the Plaza" Concert Moved to Arena
BINGHAMTON, NY - Due to the threat of severe weather Friday afternoon, Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala announces that the Southern Tier Celebrates "Pops on the Plaza" concert has been moved indoors to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Arena was always on hold as the backup site in case of inclement weather. Friday morning a decision was made to go ahead and move the concert so that the event could go on despite the weather forecast.
"The Philharmonic has to practice in the afternoon and there was simply no way to guarantee the musicians' safety in light of the threat of severe weather," said Barbara Fiala, Broome County Executive. "It is unfortunate this had to happen but we as a County are happy to be able to supply this secure location for the concert."
The event will take place at 7pm at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The special guests for the evening are Perfect Fifth and Cobblestone Crossing. Following their performances, the Binghamton Philharmonic will take the stage and present an evening of patriotic music under the direction of Conductor Jose-Luis Novo.
The County Executive encourages the community to turn out for the event. It is a perfect way to kick off your Fourth of July weekend!
