"GIVE ME 5" For The Binghamton Farmers' Market Revival Kick Off - July 5, 2005

BINGHAMTON, NY - Join us at the Binghamton Farmers' Market Revival kick off on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, starting at 8:00 a.m. and running until 2:30 p.m. Many festivities will be taking place throughout the day to celebrate the revival of the market. Festivities include a proclamation by Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala at noon, "The Fruit of the Broome" fruits and vegetables dancing to music provided by Star 1057 radio personality Louie G, and free Binghamton Mets tickets will be given away by our hometown baseball celebrity Buddy the Bee! These are just some of the exciting activities that will be part of the kickoff event celebration. Other opportunities include learning about food and nutrition and new ways to prepare tasty dishes made with locally grown produce, courtesy of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County, along with a host of other health-related resources from the Family Enrichment Network Roving Resource Van/Head Start, PAL Family Resource Center, Broome County Health Department/Give Me 5 program, Mother's and Babies Perinatal Network, Child & Family Health Plus, Broome County Gang Prevention (12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.) and screenings from the Lourdes Mission in Motion Primary Care Van.

The Market will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with extended hours on the first Friday of each month.* You can find the Binghamton Farmers' Market on Collier Street next to the Court House green.

On July 8th, an expanded Farmers' Market will be relocated to Washington Street. On July 9th, there will also be a special Saturday Market on Washington Street as part of July Fest.

*Special first Friday Farmers' Markets (5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.) will be relocated to Washington Street between Court and Hawley Streets:
