Endicott's Gault Auto Sport Hosts Fourth BMW Ultimate Drive

Kraham Lauds Bob & Connie Gault for their efforts to fight Breast Cancer

ENDICOTT, N.Y. - Broome County Executive Jeffrey P. Kraham was on hand this afternoon to welcome the fourth BMW Ultimate Drive for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to Broome County.

In a campaign that began in May and continues through November, fleets of specially -marked BMWs are making pit-stops in approximately 200 communities nationwide. Today, the BMW Ultimate drive made a pit-stop at Gault Auto Sport, located at 2507 North Street in Endicott. From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm participants were able to test-drive a BMW. For every mile test-driven, BMW will donate $1 to the Komen Foundation.

"As a big fan of cars, I can't think of a better way to raise money for the Komen Foundation and research to end breast cancer," said Mr. Kraham. "We are very fortunate to have Bob and Connie Gault as members of the Broome County community. They have worked tirelessly to bring the BMW Ultimate Drive back to Endicott, and at the same time help us all support a very worthwhile cause."

According to BMW, the average number of trips taken during an Ultimate Drive is more than 100. By 6:00 pm this evening the number of trips taken from Gault Auto Sport easily eclipsed 200, reflecting a great deal of interest among area residents.

In every community the BMW Ultimate Drive visits, a local "Hero" is honored for their efforts in the fight against breast cancer. At today's Ultimate Drive, Connie Gault recognized Traci Gibson, a 31 year old breast cancer survivor, who encourages women to have lumps in their breasts tested even if they are young or have no family history of breast cancer.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. The Foundation is an international organization with a powerful network of volunteers working to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.

"Breast cancer is the leading cause nationally of cancer deaths in women between the ages of 15 and 54," Mr. Kraham added. "Again, I want to thank Traci Gibson and the Gaults for their efforts to promote research and educate women and men about the risks and dangers of breast cancer."
