Greater Binghamton Airshow 2004 Spectator Parking Information

BINGHAMTON, NY - As a result of this year's expanded two-day Greater Binghamton Airshow, 90% of Airshow parking will be at off-site locations. Airshow planners have developed a parking plan, which provides the safest most convenient method of moving people to and from this spectacular event. The plan incorporates off-site parking with continuous free shuttle services and calls for the accommodation of over 9,000 vehicles and the use of up to 85 buses.

Five (5) off-site parking facilities will be utilized, including the campus of Broome Community College along with limited on airport parking for both days of the event. The remaining four (4) parking lots are all located adjacent to Airport Road and include the old Airport Drive-In Theatre, adjoining fields, and the Airport Corporate Center - home of Blue Cross/Blue Shield and NLX Corporation. Parking for handicapped drivers has been reserved at the airport.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on both days of the Airshow, the first shuttle will depart BCC for the airport in time for the opening of the gates at 9:00 a.m. At this same time, limited on airport parking for Airshow spectators will begin. As the available parking at the airport begins to fill, arriving spectators will be directed to the site of the former Airport Drive-In Theatre. Similarly, as this site begins to fill, arriving spectators will be directed to the next available parking site. Electronic signs and local law enforcement officers will be positioned along Airport Road to help direct drivers.

A $2.00 parking fee will be charged to each driver with a portion of the proceeds going towards local community service organizations. Due to anticipated heavy Airshow spectator traffic along Airport Road, Airshow planners are strongly encouraging the community to make use of parking at BCC, where the parking fee will only be $1.00. The last shuttle will depart BCC for the Airshow at 3:00 p.m. each day of the event.

Additionally, Airshow planners would like to remind everyone that there will be some delays in returning everyone back to their vehicles at the end of the show and that they should plan their schedule accordingly. To assist families, special activities involving the Ross Park Zoo, Bobby K Entertainment, the Discovery Center and magicians will be available near the bus departure area after the show each day.
