County Executive To Unveil Details Of New Recycling Program
BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive, Jeffrey P. Kraham, will announce the details of Broome County's new Single Stream Recycling Program at a Press Conference to be held on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Recycle America Facility located at 19 Emma Street, Binghamton, N.Y.
Beginning Monday, September 16, 2002, Broome County will be the first county in New York State to offer a single stream-recycling program. Residents of Broome County no longer will need to separate their recyclables; everything recyclable can now be mixed together into curbside recycling bins.
This new program will provide a wealth of benefits to the community as a whole. For haulers, it can significantly improve collection efficiencies, providing the potential for lower collection costs and greater savings. For residents recycling becomes easier. There is no longer a need to sort, thereby increasing resident participation and offering the potential for lower collection costs.
Mr. Kraham will be joined by Kevin Roche, Broome County's Deputy Commissioner for Solid Waste and Thomas Powers, representative of Recycle America.
