Public Service Announcement - Disaster Recovery Initiative Funds
BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Government has been granted $79,919 in federal aid for the removal of debris from residential properties that were damaged by the tornadoes of 1998. The grant is a portion of the Disaster Recovery Initiative (DRI) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
This money can only be used for remaining clean-up needs and not for reimbursement of work that has already been completed. The Broome County Department of Planning and Economic Development will be accepting applications from property owners interested in receiving funds to help pay for debris removal. The deadline for these applications is Friday, September 28, 2001.

By federal law, these grant funds are limited to households that have low to moderate incomes at the time the assistance is made. A list of maximum household income is below. It is necessary to document the income for all members of the household.
