Broome County Executive Kraham Announces Fee Relief At Landfill For Victims Of Weekend Flooding

BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Jeff Kraham announced today that the County has established a fee waiver process at the County Landfill in the Town of Nanticoke for victims of widespread flooding that occurred on September 17th and 18th in Broome County.

Pursuant to Section 179-9 of the Broome County Charter and Code debris related to damage occurring during the flooding that took place on September 17 and 18, 2004 may be disposed of at the Nanticoke Landfill without paying the tipping charges provided for in Section 179 of the Charter and Code.

Municipalities that have removed flood debris from property owners suffering damage due to the floods may apply for the fee waiver on behalf of the individual property owner.

The application either by the individual owner or municipality on behalf of individual property owners should be filed with the Broome County Division of Solid Waste Management at the landfill.

This fee waiver is only available for flood damaged debris and does not include any other type of refuse.
