Kraham Proclaims Thursday, November 15, 2001 As "Recycle Your Files Day" In Broome County
BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Jeffrey P. Kraham has proclaimed Thursday, November 15, 2001 as "Recycle Your Files Day" in Broome County.
The proclamation is in conjunction with "America Recycles Day - A Great Time to Renew Our Commitment to Recycling." The day is held to focus the nation's attention on the importance of recycling in businesses, industries, government agencies and non-profit organizations.
Beginning November 15th, Mr. Kraham encourages employers, staff, customers and all citizens to buy more recycled-content products to help raise awareness about the need to reduce waste by reusing, recycling and buying recycled products.
In 2000, Broome County received the Governor's Waste Reduction and Recycling Award for Achievement of Excellence for its recycling program. Broome County's recycling rate stands at an all-time high of 64.5%. This rate reflects all of the waste recovered for recycling and composting.
"I encourage the residents of Broome County to continue their commitment to recycling at work and at home," said Mr. Kraham. "On Recycle Your Files Day, I pledge my continued support to improving and expanding upon our outstanding recycling program."
The Broome County Office Building will observe "Recycle Your Files Day" as part of the State and National America Recycles Day initiative.
