World AIDS Day - December 1

BINGHAMTON, NY - Southern Tier residents are invited to participate in local events taking place on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2004, to commemorate those who have died from HIV/AIDS and to increase AIDS awareness. Events commemorating World AIDS Day will be held in Broome and Tioga counties.

In Broome County participants will gather at 6:00 p.m. at the Broome County Courthouse, Court Street, Binghamton, for a brief program. A silent candlelight march will follow and proceed to Trinity Memorial Church, 44 Main Street, Binghamton, for an evening of remembrance and celebration of life program. In Tioga County a program will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Tioga County Courthouse, Owego, followed with a march to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Anyone that wishes to show support for those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS may participate in the World AIDS Day events in either county. For information, please call the Binghamton Tri-County HIV Care Network at 607.778.2858.
