Passenger Boardings Increase For 15th Consecutive Month At The Greater Binghamton Airport

BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive, Jeff Kraham is pleased to announce that October passenger boardings at the Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) have increased by 16.8% compared to the same period last year. In October of 2003, 11,944 passengers flew from BGM compared to 10,229 in October of 2002.

October 2003, also represents the fifteenth consecutive month that the airport has experienced increased passenger traffic over the previous year. Year-to-date through the end of October, 107,305 passengers flew from the Greater Binghamton Airport, which is an increase of 9.5% over the same period in 2002. According to the Air Transport Association, through October, nationwide passenger traffic is down 3%, year to date.

"The increases for October are significant because they not only surpass 2002 boarding figures, but they also exceed passenger numbers dating back three years," said County Executive Kraham. "The air travelers of this region have not only returned to the skies, but they are making the Greater Binghamton Airport their choice again and again," added Kraham.

Currently, the Greater Binghamton Airport offers service from 4 of the nation's 7 largest airlines with 41 flights per day (1/3 of these flights utilize new regional jet aircraft) providing convenient service to most domestic and international destinations. The airlines currently serving the Greater Binghamton area include Delta Connection, Northwest Airlink, United Express and US Airways Express. From these airline, non-stop service is available to Cincinnati, Detroit, Washington DC, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, respectively.
